Fadi usually came back to his family’s house for the weekends, but one weekend he didn’t show up, prompting his father to go to the school to check on him. After failing to find him there, he asked Fadi’s friends, who responded that Fadi hadn’t come to school for two days. As the years passed by, his family continued searching for him. In 2005, they visited UN-ESCWA’s missing persons ‘camp’ for the families of the disappeared, where a number of individuals who had been released from Syrian prisons recognized Fadi’s photo.
