The situation in Tripoli was quite dangerous so Ahmad went from the city of Akkar where he was spending some time at his sister’s, to Tripoli. He wanted to pick up his mother and younger sister to take them with him to Akkar where the situation was better. He hitchhiked in a pick-up truck with two young men, and once they reached a checkpoint, they asked them to get out of the truck and they weren’t allowed to get back in. Two days later, on the 26th of September 1985, his sister went from Akkar to her family in the Mina area in Tripoli and she was asking about him. His family in Tripoli had thought that he was at his sister’s in Akkar whereas his sister had though that he was in Tripoli with his mother. At that point, Ahmad’s family realized that something was wrong and they started looking for him. After finding the pick-up truck that he took to Tripoli, they asked the soldiers at the checkpoint about Ahmad and they told them that he will be out of investigations in a couple of days. They are still looking for him.
